Research: there was little direct competition, so most of it had to be designed from scratch, while following established design patterns. I studied how the system works to build a clear flow, and read papers, blogs and articles to understand the users: programmers.
UI: the sharp, angular style from the landing page was approved for the whole product. Developers, designers and testers notice every extra detail, so I kept it simple: monochrome, clear and rational, no decorative buttons.
Copy: I worked closely with the developers to get the technical language right. My own coding experience helped, and the final copy was approved by the team.
